Since there’s been quite a bit of talk about moving to Canada in regards to the US election, I’ve decided to give out some information.
It is hard to move to Canada (as I’ve said before). Keep this in mind.
If you are serious about it for whatever reason (Election or not), here are things that are most desired:
-Are you young (young people are valued over older people)
-Do you have university degrees (The more educated you are the better); if you don’t have at least a college or university degree it’ll likely be hard to get accepted.
-Are you going to Canada for university (this helps); its possible to go to Canada as an international student, and once you’re done its easier to apply to immigrate.
-Is your career or work experience in a skilled area (more specialized the better, particularly in areas of job shortages in Canada in that field); you’ll also need to have a lot of work experience in your field.
-Do you have a job offer in Canada (this helps a lot obviously)
-Do you have a safety net of cash in your bank account ($12,184 Canadian is the minimum for Express Entry)
-Marry a Canadian or have family in Canada sponsor you.
And even if you meet a lot of these checkboxes, immigration is very time consuming. It can take months or years to be accepted.

Feel free to point out any errors, or anything I left out.
Also please note that Canada is not some perfect country with no problems; there are issues of racism, issues of gender inequality, LGBTQ issues, income inequality issues, etc (I talk about all of these issues on this blog).
Marrying a Canadian is not a sure shot either. Any applicant for immigration must have as clean a file as possible. Your sponsor must also not have any stain on their background.
Additionally, the sponsor must be able to demonstrate that they will be able to cover all expenses required for a decent living and they may not be able to ask for social security, and similarly, the applicant may not be able to receive social services for free - remember that until you receive permanent residence, you (or your sponsor) will need to pay for medical services of all kinds.
Finally, your sponsor must sign a contract stating that they accept to be legally responsible for you and your actions for a period of 10 years after your arrival. The contract does not end with your relationship, which means that even in the case of a break-up, even if you move to another province, your sponsor is still responsible for you. That alone may scare a lot of people. Sponsoring immigrants is a HUGE responsibility.
Considering Donald Trump has been elected president of the USA I’m sharing this again.
I’m not making any judgements. If you feel unsafe and are seriously considering moving to Canada, here is some information.
Immigration is not easy and most people will not qualify but I thought people would appreciate this information. I’ll be happy to answer any additional questions as well.
