i know theres discourse abt whether straight ppl should call their bf/gf their partner or not but like a) chill i dont understand why primarily white gays are so eager to label everything as appropriation pls find a hobby and b) i hope straight ppl keep referring to them as their partner so i can have a safe gender neutral way to refer to my girlfriend w/o having to out myself

Having a safe way to discuss our relationships without outing ourselves is literally the reason “partner” caught on in the first place. We want, we need straight people to use it and normalize it.

How safe must these people feel in their lives to just rip closet doors off their hinges like this.

Also everybody in Australia uses partner regularly ALL the time? Regardless of their partner’s gender…

Seriously- that isn’t appropriation. That’s normalization and a good thing. Because again- widespread use of the term partner makes life safer for queer couples.
